Jody Shimoda

Jody has an MA – TESOL from the School for International Training (SIT) in the U.S. She has spent her career working internationally as a teacher and educational developer in elementary to tertiary level language and teacher training programs in Japan, Canada, and the Middle East. Since 2011, she has been teaching English for Academic Purposes (EAP) and undergraduate electives at UCQ. She serves as the Undergraduate Program Language Lead and facilitates the integration of language support within the degree program. One of her professional interests is in promoting interdisciplinary collaboration between language and content instructors as a tool for pedagogical development.  She is also interested in utilizing specifically designed academic instruction, with a focus on course and materials design, to support second language learners studying in English-medium tertiary environments.
